Acropolis (Acro)
A Main Map designated for socializing and uploads of Social Dreams.

	AFK
Away From Keyboard. Meant to indicate that a user is temporarily not looking at their screen.

	Allegria Island (AI)
The oldest upload Main Map in Furcadia, designated for Persona Play and Socializing.

	Alt
1. Short for Alternate Character. Used when referring to a character other than the one you are currently on, or one other than your Main Character. 2. The Alt key on a keyboard, one is located to each side of the spacebar on a standard keyboard, not present on the iPhone.

	Anthropomorphic (Anthro)
Refers to objects or animals that are given human characteristics. Most often referred to, in Furcadia, as animals that walk on two legs and speak.

	Associates
Employees of DEP, these furres work on the running and development of Furcadia directly. Associates are not Beekin Volunteers, however sometimes they are assigned to supervise a Beekin volunteer group where they are known as an Associates In Charge (AIC).

	Avatar (Avie)
The visual representation of your Character in Furcadia. Sometimes referred to as the walk-about or toon.

	Backstory
1. The Story that describes the events that happened to your character before they joined a Continuity. Often used as justification and motivation for behaviors, quirks, and items your character possesses. 2. The official story of the Dragonlands, the background and setting for the default IC Continuity in Furcadia.

	Banish
1. The Dream Owner command used to permanently remove a furre from their Dream. To use, type banish and then their name and hit enter. This removes the character and prevents them or any of their alts from entering your dream. 2. The act of using the banish command. (I banished him for being mean.)

	Beekin
1. Beekin the Help Dragon, one of the Primes in the official backstory, responsible for guiding souls to the Dreaming World of Furcadia. 2. A volunteer in the Beekin Help Program: Furcadia's official group of volunteers that help furres in their time in Furcadia.

	Bugge
1. A race of anthropomorphic insect in the official backstory. 2. A member of the Beekin Bugge Hunters, volunteer trouble shooters and technical support for Furcadia.

	Build-A-Home (BaH)
Player Dreams characterized by the patrons ability to get a house, garden or apartment and decorate it how they want not using the editors. Often a good starting place for newfurres.

	Challenges
A Main Map dedicated to games and puzzles, and game Dreams.

	Character
A combination of your avatar, backstory, portrait, Digos and the personality you project through your interactions and Roleplay with others.

	Consent Rule
Stated simply: 'If someone says something that you do not like, that affects your character, you may choose to ignore that action.' In other words, they cannot control you or your character without your consent.

	Cookies
A special type of desctag. Cookies can be given to others, eaten or used in the Cookie Economy. You are given 3 free cookies a day. For more on cookies see the section of this FAQ dedicated to them.

	Cookie Economy
A trading system that allows you to take cookies and spend them in or earn them from Dreams. The cookie economy started in the spring of 2009.

	Creator
There are 4 Creators: Felorin, Talzhemir, Fox and Emerald Flame. These furres are the owners of DEP and the directors of Furcadia's development.

	Default (Patch)
Usually refers to the Default art or patches for Furcadia. This is the items, floors, walls, avatars, skins, etc. that come with the game when you download it and are free to use or modify as you wish for use in Furcadia.

	Description (Desc)
The text that is shown when someone looks at you on Furcadia. Most commonly used for a physical description, personal links, shout-outs to friends, or conveying a message to the reader.

	Desctag
1. Small graphics that appear at the end of your description. Desctags can be for items you've been given, can give away or have bought/earned while playing Furcadia. 2. Refers to specific desctags that can be purchased on Digo Market such as throwable pillows and pies, muffins, pizzas and other edibles as well as items like wedding rings and friendship bracelets.

	Digo
A slang term for the custom avatars and items you can purchase from Digo Market.

	Digo Market
1.The official website where you can purchase all available enhancements for your character, as well as gifts for other Furcadians, using DragonScales, credit cards, Paypal or other payment methods. Visit the Digomarket through Digomarket.com

	Dragon's Eye Productions, Inc. (DEP)
The small, independent company that produces and maintains Furcadia. Located in Austin, Texas.

	Dragonlands
The official backstory or 'continuity' of Furcadia. The default IC setting.

	DragonScales
Gift-vouchers: sometimes considered the official currency of Furcadia. DragonScales come in three forms: Gold DragonScales or GD (worth 1USD), Silver DragonScales or SD (worth 0.10USD) and Copper DragonScales or CD (worth 0.01USD) all of which are collectively referred to as 'Scales'. DragonScales are purchased from www.digomarket.com.

	DragonSpeak
Furcadia's proprietary scripting language created by Dr. Cat(Felorin). DragonSpeak is used to create effects in dreams, from simple teleportation to elaborate games.

	Dream
A Furcadia map, often used to refer to a player-created map, that is uploaded to the game using Furcadia for Windows. Main Maps are also Dreams. Main Map Dreams are public, like a park. Player-made Dreams are more like someone's home or business.

	Dream Editor (DreamEd)
The free editing tool included with Furcadia for Windows. Uses a simple point and click interface for creating custom maps quickly and efficiently.

	Dream Hopping
A common Furcadia pastime where an individual or group travels randomly from Dream to Dream looking for interesting sights, Roleplay, and new friends.

	Dream Owner
The uploader and manager of a Dream. Possesses special tools for taking care of their Dream such as banish, eject and the ability to control who can upload from within the Dream. The Dream Owner has final say on all matters within their Dream that do not break the Furcadia Terms of Service.

	Dream Package
A group of extra perks you can buy to make your Dreams work better for Groups. These perks include things like saved upload location, larger Dream space, more cookies, more DS and PS space, special red portals and more.

	Dream Portals
The distinctive glowing circles on Upload Maps that lead to a dream when walked into. Uploaded Dream Portals come in three main types: Common green portals, blue Silver Sponsor portals, and red Dream Package portals. Many Main Map Portals look like little gazebos.

	Dream Standards
Furcadia Dream Standards tell what the expected behavior is in a map or Dream. Most of Furcadia falls under the Teen+ Standard with a few areas under the more strict E8+ Standard. iPhone and iTouch users cannot enter Dreams with standards higher than T+.

	Dream URLs
Furcadia specific links that can transport you directly to the Dream the url is written for by clicking the link. Usually a slightly different color from web links and always start with furc://.

	Eject
A Dream Owner and shared user command that removes a furre from their Dream. Less final than banish, eject is handy for making a point, stopping an argument or moving an idle furre who is blocking something. DragonSpeak can also be used to eject from your Dream.

	Entry Text
The message that appears when you first enter a Dream or Main Map. Usually a welcome, some information, or helpful hints as to what the Dream contains.

	Feral RP
A genre of Roleplay in which the primary characters are 4-legged, non-anthropomorphic animals, most often wolves, large cats, or horses.

	Ferian
A class of Furcadian character that walks on all fours like a feral animal. Can also refer to non-anthro birds and other species.

	Festival Grounds
The Main Map where the annual Festivals are held. Although the basic layout is the same for most festivals, the overall look can vary from Egyptian Nile delta, to spooky bayou to green garden depending on the season and Festival.

	For Life
A term used to classify Digo Market items that never expire. For Life items cost approximately the same as purchasing the item for 5 years. Given Furcadia's longevity many for-life items have already proven to be a smart investment.

	Fox Editor
The free graphic editor included with Furcadia for Windows. Can be used to create items, floors, avatars, and walls for your Dream in a simple to use 2D format. Also used to create interface skins and portraits.

	FST
Furcadia Standard Time. The same as Central Time in the US. (GMT-06:00) This is the same time zone as the one the Furcadia servers are located in.

	Furre (Pronounced "fur")
1. Refers to an anthropomorphic avatar in Furcadia(as opposed to Ferian). 2. Another name for your Character. 3. A common Furcadia pronoun referring to a player of Furcadia.

	GD
Golden DragonScales, used for purchasing character enhancements on Digo Market. Additional DragonScales may be purchased from DigoMarket.com

	Gettable
Describes an object in Furcadia that can be picked up and put down.

	Gifts
1. A proud tradition in Furcadia that can include the giving of Digos, Dreams, cookies, help, etc. There are special commands to "gift" Furcadia Digos to each other. 2. A class of desctags on Digo Market that allow you to send a message with them when you give them out. These include roses, bouquets, swords, magic wands, etc.

	Guardians
A Beekin volunteer specially screened and provided with extra training to enforce the rules of Furcadia. Guardians do not police in private Dreams. For questions about Guardians you can email guardians@furcadia.com.

	Hawthorn
A rougher Main Map for furres to explore more violent Roleplay and crude language under the M16+ Standard. Adult only social Dreams are often located here as well. This area is not accessible through the iPhone.

	Help Center
A place located in Naia Green where you can find Beekin Volunteers and other helpful furres who are willing to answer any questions you might have.

	Help Channel
Where your question is sent when you use the Live Help screen. The Beekin Helpers will answer your question or transfer you to a Specialist Beekin who can.

	Helpers
The general Beekin Volunteer Group that you will talk to when calling on the Live Help screen, the Help Channel or visiting the Help Center.

	IC (In Character)
Acting only as your character would act only on knowledge your character would know. Refraining from using information that you the player knows to influence your character's actions. Many areas and Dreams in Furcadia are considered IC Only. The opposite would be OOC or Out Of Character.

	Imaginarium (Imag)
Main Map that is the OOC staging area for Roleplay and the upload map where you find most Roleplay Dreams.

	IRL (In Real Life)
Refers to things that happen off the computer or other digital device. Ex. "I need to cook dinner IRL."

	Isometric
Sometimes called 2.5D this refers to the angle of view and grid-based movement used in Furcadia.

	KitterSpeak
The scripts used to make objects animate. Found on the animation menu in the Fox Editor.

	Kitterwing
A mythical species in Furcadia akin to winged fairies mixed with animal species. Kitterwings can change size from very small to as large as furres.

	Kiwi
Mischievous little birds found all over Furcadia. Birds are often considered livestock in Furcadia and used for food, clothing, pets, riding creatures, etc.

	Local Species (Locals)
Avatars that can be patched into Dreams and turned on using DS commands. All Dreams are allowed two Local Species slots with Sponsors and Dream Package Owners getting more.

	Looking
Refers clicking on or pressing a furre's avatar or name to display their portrait and description.

	Main Map
An area of the game that is built and monitored by the Furcadia Staff and official volunteers. As a whole the Main Maps constitute the core world of Furcadia.

	Masons
The group of Beekins who specialize in helping with Dreamweaving and DragonSpeak.

	Meovanni Village (Meo)
The first Main Map and an area to socialize and Persona Play.

	MMO
Stands for Massively Multiplayer Online (Game). Furcadia is the longest continuously running MMO on the Net, having opened on Dec 16th, 1996.

	Mythical
A class of Digo Avatars which includes species like Dragons, Phoenix, Gryffes, Unicorns, Kirin and Naga usually as anthros. Mythicals always have a Magic Powers such as shape changing or animated effects.

	Naia Green
The Community Center Main Map where you can usually find a Beekin volunteer at the Help Center.

	Newfurre
Refers to a new player in Furcadia.

News

1. The News Tab is the fourth tab on the bottom. It lists the RRS news feed about Furcadia. 2. The News Channel broadcasts in your text box telling about player-sponsored and official event news from around Furcadia. It is a good place to keeps track of what's going on in Furcadia. 3. System Broadcasts are special announcements, usually concerning server restarts and major official events like the beginning of a Festival. System Broadcasts also appear in your text box.

	Noble
A class of regal Digos characterized by being gender-specific in appearance. There are noble versions of many different species.

	NPC
Short for Non-Player Character, NPCs are objects powered by DS or a Bot to help run a Dream or make a Dream more immersive by giving instructions or IC information. Though they may respond to you, there is no real person behind an NPC.

	OOC (Out-Of-Character)
Acting as yourself, freely expressing views or comments based on what you yourself know and believe rather than your character's knowledge.

	Para-RP
A style of Roleplay characterized by many lines of text per post. Many Para-RP dreams require a minimum number of lines per post to participate. Detractors of Para-RP decry its verbosity while its supporters point to the breadth of description and richness of narrative inherent in the genre.

	Patch
Usually refers to new art added to the game in Furcadia. Usually player made items, floors, walls, avatars, skins, etc. that are added to the Dream for a wider variety of art to choose from. There are several extensive patch archives where free patches by other players can be found. Most patch files for Furcadia use the .fsh or .fox file extensions.

	Paws
1. Often used in place of the word "hands" when furres are talking. Ex. "Wait until I get my paws on that kiwi!". 2. Refers to the place that an item you are holding is kept. Ex. "You are holding a pookie in your paws."

	Persona Play
A casual form of Roleplay where you develop your character how you want and interact with those around you while "In Character". No strict rules or genres are required as it is just for fun and group storytelling. This is the default RP for Main Maps unless otherwise indicated.

	PhoenixSpeak
A scripting language that works closely with DragonSpeak with the difference that it stores information in a database. This allows you to keep track of information like character stats and create more complex games and Dreams. You are given 64 k of free storage space and can get more with Sponsorship and Dream Packages.

	Pixel
1. A volunteer Beekin that helps furres learn about art and patches for Furcadia. Master Pixels sometimes help with making art used in the game. 2. A single dot of color on digital screen. Furcadia art is often considered to be pixel art since you can create it one pixel at a time.

	Pongo Fruit
A pinkish fruit that exists only in Furcadia and is often used for food and juice. Pongo trees have blue flowers and pink fruit and can be found in the default item patch. Pongo Juice can be bought as a desctag and shared with everyone around you.

	Pookie
The stuffed snow leopard plushie in the default patch.

	Port
1. Frequently used short term for portrait or portrait space. 2. An access point used to connect to Furcadia. A digital doorway.

	Portrait (Port)
The close-up picture of your character. A set of default portraits is provided for free. Your portrait changes to match your gender and species. If you purchase a portrait space from Digo Market you can use a custom picture to represent your character.

	Portrait Space
A special item from Digo Market that lets you use a picture you have drawn or have permission to use instead of a default portrait. All custom portraits must be 95x95 pixels.

	Primes
The Primes are the fictional pantheon that oversee the world of Furcadia. Each prime has a sphere of influence, such as Jujinka's power over Nature or Jemmion's affinity for the night sky. The Primes were created by The Dragon, who also created the world of Furcadia. Not all the primes wish good things for furres, some want to disrupt the natural order and are known as Dark Primes.

	Proxy
A small program that interfaces between the Furcadia client and the server providing enhancements to the interface and possibly additional features. All proxies are third party software and not supported by Furcadia. Proxies are not available on the iPhone.

	Rah
The leader of a Group or Dream in Furcadia. If you have a Dream Package the Rah is usually the owner of the Dream Package. The Rah is assisted by one or more(usually 2) Taneest(a)s. Usually only the Rah of the Group has any communication with DEP.

	Remapping
A special Pixel art technique that allows Furcadia art to mimic the colors you have picked for your character. This technique is used on remapping portraits, avatars and some interface buttons.

	RL (Real Life)
The place where you don't have a tail. Generally, RL details shouldn't be shared with those online whom you do not trust.

	Roleplay (RP)
The process of immersing yourself in a character and acting out a story with other Furcadians. Can be thought of as group storytelling within a framework of rules, be they strict rules or fairly relaxed. There are as many "correct" ways to RP as there are Furcadians.

	Roses
Roses are common gifts purchasable from Digo Market. You can give a rose to a friend, acquaintance, or favorite Beekin and attach a message for them. After the rose is given it appears as a desctag for a fixed period of time that varies based on rose color.

	Scribe
A member of the volunteer Beekin group that helps update and maintain the Furcadia.com web pages.

	Seasonal Avatar
A class of Avatars available on Digo Market only during certain times of the year or special sales. Includes such favorites as the Spring Floxes, Autumn Bats, and Winter Penguins.

	Share
1. A Dream Owner Command that bestows some special powers on the receiving furre. Share allows the target furre to eject other furres from the dream and emit messages to the entire dream. 2. Used as a noun, someone who has been the target of the share command is said to 'have share'.

	Silence Rule
A special anti-harassment rule, the Silence Rule(SR) can be invoked by informing the furre they are being put on the silence rule, and then ignoring them with the ignore command. You must keep the furre ignored for the Silence Rule to work.

Silver Sponsor

A suite of special perks available on Digo Market in exchange for supporting Furcadia with a small monthly payment. Can be set up as a subscription through PayPal on DigoMarket.com, or purchased month-by-month on the Digo Market tab. Grants your character a special portrait space they can change every month, access to a special forum with first looks at upcoming features and avatars, first try at some new features to come out, access to the game Creators and much more.

	Sittable
Similar to gettable, an object property that indicates that an object will make a furre automatically sit down when they walk over the object.

	Snug
A snuggly hug desctag gift to give to your friends. A desctag representing two snuggling chinchillas. These helpful chinchillas can also carry a message with them to the recipient. Warning: Snugs have been known to cause spontaneous smiles and reciprocal snugs.

	Spamming
Repeating the same word or phrase excessively or saying large blocks of gibberish for the purpose of gaining attention of harassing those nearby. A spamming furre is a good reason to employ the ignore command.

	Strict Roleplay
Roleplaying by a prearranged set of rules. Usually your character and backstory has to conform to a specific setting and power level, most commonly called the continuity.

	Subscription
A renewing payment option used for sponsorships and some Digos. Provides constant access to the service or Digo without having to worry about manually repurchasing. Only available through PayPal on Digomarket.com.

	Taneest/Taneesta
The second-in-command furres who help the Rah run a dream. Taneests are male, Taneestas are female.

	The Wylde
A mystical island, once thought a myth, today it is known as the homeland of the Ferians. The Wylde has a diverse environment, from dry deserts and scalding savannahs to cool forests and snowy mountain peaks.

	Update
Usually refers to a new client (iPhone or Windows) with exciting new art, features and bug fixes. Can also refer to server, Dream, web or graphic changes. There are usually a couple of major updates a year and many smaller ones.

	Upload Map
A Main Map that allows furres to upload their Dreams. When in the Windows Client, press control+T to summon a Dream Portal and allow others to visit your creation.

	Vinca Nexus
The heart of the world of Furcadia, floating in the clouds. The Vinca Nexus has portals connecting to most of Furcadia's Main Maps.

	Walkable
A main property of a Furcadia object that can be set in the Fox Editor. A furre can freely pass over an object, wall or floor tile marked walkable.

	Welcomer
A volunteer Beekin group dedicated to welcoming Newfurres into Furcadia and guiding them through their initial travels. Welcomers can also give tours to anyone who requests one. You can get in touch with a Welcomer through the Live Help screen.

	Wings
A Special enhancement for you avatar available from Digo Market. Wings can be worn on any of the default avatars except bugges. Beyond looking attractive wings can also allow you to walk on cloud tiles, which is how to get to the Zephiroth Main Map off the Vinca.
