How about sitting or laying?
Place your finger on the Play Screen and swipe downward to sit and again to lie down. To stand up again, swipe your finger upwards on the screen. |
How do I move around? | |
Tap or hold the four arrows in the corners of the Play Screen to walk around the game world. Often the four corners are referred to as Northwest (NW), Southwest (SW), Northeast (NE) and Southeast (SE). |
How do I turn? | |
To turn in place swipe your finger left to right across the Play Screen. You can turn the other direction by swiping your finger right to left. |
What is the Finger Bar? | |
The Finger Bar is a set of tools used to interact with the world around you. To open the Finger Bar find the Hand Button at the bottom left of your Text Screen on the Furcadia tab. Tap the Hand button and it will bring up the Finger Bar over your Play Screen. The Finger bar contains the Get, Use, Next Digo and Magic buttons, as well as a box to indicate which item you're holding. |
Can I pick things up? | |
The Get Button on the Finger Bar will brighten if you are standing over an object that you can pick up. Tap the Get Button and the object will appear in the box next to it. The Get Button changes to Drop. You can now carry this item with you. The Drop Button will only be bright if you can drop your item in your current location. If you stand over another "gettable" item, the Swap Button will appear. If you leave the Dream (area) the item will be taken out of your "paws". |
How do I tell what I'm holding?
If you are currently holding an item, it will be displayed in the box next to the Get Button on the Finger Bar. You can only carry one item at a time. |
What is the use button for?
Some items have effects when you press the Use Button while carrying them. Tapping Use while standing or sitting in certain places can cause strange or fantastical things to happen-- give it a try! In many areas pressing the Use Button while your "paws" are empty will teleport you around the Dream you are in. Try Getting something and pressing the Use Button to see what happens! This is often how you will interact with player-created games. |
Why can't I get/use some items?
In some Dreams there is special scripting called DragonSpeak that causes the Get and Use Buttons to behave differently. For example, a pillow that can be picked up one place might not be "gettable" someplace else. Using a sword in one dream may cause one effect, but that same sword could cause a different effect in another dream, or have no effect at all. Sometimes items will be taken from your "paws" without you dropping them or put there without you getting them. These effects are all designed by each Dream Owner to enhance your experience while in their Dream. |
How do I make the Finger Bar go away?
Tap the Hand Button in the bottom left corner of your Text Screen to close the Finger Bar. However, you can still move while the Finger Bar is active. |
What do the bottom tabs do?
The Tabs across the bottom help you navigate to the major sections of the iPhone Furcadia Client. The Furcadia Tab takes you to the main screen where you can see your avatar, speak to those around you and interact with the Play Screen. The Furres Tab lets you see who is playing, talk privately to others, add them to your Friends List or ignore them. The Help Tab has a Quick Start page, Live Help and the Furcadia FAQ that you are currently reading. The News Tab tells you about current happenings in Furcadia, contests, festivals and special sales. The Digo Market Tab lets you use DragonScales to shop for enhancements for your character. |
How do I read signs? | |
Often there will be signs, billboards, NPCs and statues around Furcadia Dreams. If you walk your avatar into the sign or "bump" it, text may appear in your Text Screen. Sometimes signs are just scenery, but often they give you Dream rules or tell you how to play games. |
Are there typed commands?
Yes! All commands are available in a typed form as well as the buttons you see. There are also many commands that do not even have buttons. These include Gift giving, Secure Trade, Dream commands, cookies, dice rolls and switching to specific avatars. For a full list of commands go here. |
What is used instead of the accent for commands?
To activate some typed commands you need to place the ` symbol in front of the word. Since the iPhone does not have this accent mark you will need to use the • instead. To find the • on your iPhone tap the ".?123" button on the keyboard. Then tap the "#+=" button. The • is on the far right in the middle. For example: Type •sit to sit down. |
How do I see information about my account?
To see what Digos you own, how long you've played, and other information about your character you can type "info" and tap send. The information will be displayed in your Text Screen. |
Can I navigate with my tongue?
Yes, we tested this for you, but we don't recommend it. It significantly reduces accuracy and makes your screen wet. (Disclaimer: Do not try this at home. Soaking your iPhone may void your warranty. Gar is a trained professional who performed this stunt on a closed test track.) |
